Cambodia, officially known as the Kingdom of Cambodia, is a Southeast Asian country located in the southern part of the Indochina Peninsula. Cambodia is bordered by Thailand to the west and northwest, Laos to the north, Vietnam to the east and south, and the Gulf of Thailand to the southwest. Phnom Penh is the capital of Cambodia.
Cambodia is indeed famous for its Hindu temples, with the most iconic and renowned temple being Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is not only the largest religious monument in the world but also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and now it is a 8th Wonder. It was originally constructed in the 12th century by the Khmer King Suryavarman II as a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu.
In addition to Angkor Wat, there are many other Hindu temples in Cambodia, such as Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm, Banteay Srei, and Preah Vihear, among others. These temples feature intricate stone carvings and sculptures, reflecting the rich Hindu cultural and religious influence on the region during the Khmer Empire.
Also Cambodia boasts beautiful natural landscapes. Visitors can explore lush rainforests, pristine beaches along the coast, and the scenic Cardamom Mountains. Adventure activities like trekking, zip-lining, and eco-tours are becoming increasingly popular.
While Cambodia is predominantly a Buddhist country today, the Hindu heritage is still very much visible and celebrated through these magnificent temples, attracting visitors from all over the world who come to explore their historical and architectural significance.
Khmer is the official language, and it is widely spoken throughout the country. English is also taught in schools and is used in business and tourism.
